What were you just watching? You were going through a visual and musical representation of the life of a web crawler on its infinite voyage through the internet...
So what is a web crawler then? They are little bots who usually work for search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. and explore the internet every day by hopping from page to page following hyperlinks.
So exactly, what you were watching was this. A little robot trapped in our server is crawling the web looking for new pages. Each time it finds an new page, it takes a snapshot which shows up on your screen.
Nothing is moving. WTF? It might be that the web crawler is stuck, feching pages that won't respond. Eventually, It will get unstuck. Maybe.
What about the music? It is an original improvised piece created for the purpose of this website. It features Lola Payen on voice, Octave Potier on drums and Leo Bouloc on saxophone and lasts 38 minutes. There is no pausing or rewinding the music, only muting. There is not direct interaction between the music and the web crawler but they are conceptually linked in many ways...
Who made the website? Leo Bouloc made it.
